Samantha Graham
Diploma of Musical Theatre and Commercial Dance / Cert IV Fitness and Personal Training
Samantha is the founder of Jumbo Funk and has over 15 years of experience in the education and entertainment industries. Samantha trained under the Commonwealth Society Teachers of Dance (C.S.T.D) from the age of three in jazz, tap and ballet and then went on to develop her love of singing and musical theatre through professional training.
Samantha has worked as a dance teacher, presenter and facilitator in early childhood centres and primary schools for the past ten years. During Samantha’s career she has engaged with children from all walks of life having traveled to rural indigenous communities to share her love of dance.
Sam worked as a dance teacher at Island Lake Summer Camp in Pennsylvania USA which allowed her to share her love of the Australian dance culture with international students.
Sam has previously worked as a qualified Zumba instructor, adult fitness coach, cabaret choreographer and interactive tour guide.
Some of Sam’s professional and semi-professional musical theatre credits include Charlie & and the Chocolate Factory, Avenue Q, The Lion King, A Chorus Line and Mary Poppins. Samantha has also previously worked as a performer with The Sit Down Comedy Club, Village Roadshow Theme Parks, Redland’s City Council and Crown Casino Melbourne. Samantha has worked as a professional MC at various school fetes, fundraisers and community events.
Samantha is a recipient of the Queensland Theatre’s Young Playwright Award and has previously worked alongside professional actors and directors devising her work in dramaturgical sessions leading to a professional, public play readings. Her plays were performed at two iconic venues, Brisbane Powerhouse and the Billie Brown Theatre. Samantha’s two children’s plays Destination and Follow your Heart inspired her commitment to continue to create and devise entertainment for children.
Working with children continues to bring Sam great joy and pride when she see’s children embracing the power of dance, drama and music.
